Ajiro-no-ma and Ecchu-no-ma (Wickerwork Room and Toyama Room)

The "Wickerwork Room" and adjoining "Toyama Room" have ceilings made in a wickerwork style. Within the limited space of these rooms, this ingeniously executed design stands out.

Ajiro-no-ma (Wickerwork Room)

In addition to the wickerwork ceilings, Dutch glass imported at that time was used to decorate the lower half of the room's "yukimi shoji" ("yukimi sliding screens”).

Ecchu-no-ma (Toyama Room)

For the ceiling of the "Toyama Room," which is next to the "Wickerwork Room," Japanese cedar was brought from Tateyama Mountain in Toyama Prefecture.
A large round window is an important feature of this room.
